Profile for The Vixen
Real Name: Di Dobson
Born in Hove, Sussex back in the dark ages - too long ago to bother about. Lived in Worthing (by the seaside) until I married for the first time in 1969. I worked for Beecham Research Laboratories in Sterility Testing Unit - all a bit scientific. By the time I was 21 I was an orphan (ahh its worse than that). I moved to Stevenage, Herts in 1970 and in 1973 became a Mum to Mandy my eldest. Lara arrived in 1976. Have you noticed the total lack of
C & W influence in my life so far?
I was keen on sports & played badmington in a league team. I adore cricket & can watch it at any level. Being a thigh lady rugby can entertain me often.
Still no C & W, I was not really into music and films but was more of an outdoor bod. Most of my miss-spent youth was spent in Brighton. Mmmm those halcyon days.........
In the early 80's we - 1st hubby, children & I, moved abroad to the Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East. I was there for 5 years, 5 fantastic years. I saw and experienced things most people will only see between the pages of the National Geographic Magazine. I wrote for an English speaking mews paper, did radio programmes, modelling, got heavily into amateur dramatics - thigh slapping & fishnets. I came back to the UK in 1989 and became a 'single parent'.
In 1990 I met hubby No 2 - John (better known to Westerners as Silver Fox) DING !!! Do I sense a hint of C & W intervening my life. Yes!!!
After out initial meeting and his chat up line of "Is it worth me taking you home tonight darling?" I was introduced to C & W music - boring....
We started going to a club near Evesham at Norton & Lenchwick & slowly but very slowly I got into the music.
We bought our cottage in Wilmcote & started going further afield to C & W Clubs, Southam, Daventry, Rubery & Banbury. We even took up line dancing. Yes I was getting hooked on C & W.
A few years ago we followed some "regulars" down to Brean. Where the retiring, shy & quiet lady with Silver Fox got hammered one night & let herself down much to Badger's and many others delight.
I was now a fully initiated Redditch Westerner & here I am today Treasurer of our club and totally hooked on the C & W scene. I have even been known to dress up now and again.
I love Country Music but of all the many Artists & good ones at that, Travis Tritt has to be my fave. Dances with Wolves is probably my most memorable movie, confirmed last year on our trip to Wyoming USA.
Well Folks that me...............
