REDDITCH WESTERNERS, NEWSLETTER.
July 2008
This year seems to be flying by it’s been a busy June for the club; with the Astwood bank steam fair, being a very good weekend. The weather was fine and the show team performed a western style car chase! Plus some demonstration gunfights, for the passers by, See "Events" Page for Pictures.
The club Round-up in June; the site was prepared by a group of volunteers during the previous week and their efforts were rewarded, as the weekend was a great success with good weather and everyone enjoying the entertainments and activities.
As usual there was fierce competition in all the events, there was the Buffalo hunt the Buffalo (looking remarkably like a toilet seat) but more difficult to score a bulls eye!
The Horse Shoe pitching was equally challenging, the Hawk throwing resulted in a three way play off on Sunday, we also enjoyed some good Archery and a Rifle shoot many thanks to Mad Dog for supplying the equipment.
There were the usual pistol shooting events; the walk and draw being won by Mucho, for the third year running. The load and fire thumb busting was won by Sweetpea, and the best of three styles was won by Trapper, all the shooting events were very close contests.
There were only hundredth’s of a second between winners and runners up. The fastest shot went to Sweetpea, and the overall champion was Trapper, well done to all.
This year saw the introduction of a Tug-O-War, which despite some cries of foul play
was good fun. The mix of Men and Women proved controversial and the rope was too small, some teams were too big and some too heavy, but in the end Peacemakers team won and Trappers team were runners up.

That’s about it for now I look forward to seeing you all at the Blue Rodeo in August,
As a last word may I thank all who helped on Sunday to put the camp site to bed.
Sweetpea.
